My Kingdom for a Diet Pepsi
Nothing is worse than when I walk into work in the mornings and realize that I do not possess any money whatsoever. This means that I will not be able to purchase anything to drink all day from the vending machine. Some days I'll walk into work and realize that I don't have any 1 dollar bills, only 5's, 10's, or 20's. This stinks for the first half of the day, but isn't altogether horrible because I know that I'll be able to break one of the bills when the lunch truck arrives around noon. Since there isn't an ATM within 3 miles of where I work, I am totally out of luck on 'no money days'.
Today is an 'I don't possess any money whatsoever' occasion. I hate these days because I always open up the drawer in my desk hoping that I'll find some nickels and dimes that I didn't know existed. Inevitably I don't and I end up out in the car looking under seats and in ash trays for spare change that will total up to 75 cents. Of course, if I am lucky enough to find loose change in the car at all, it only ever totals up to 70 cents.
I just took a census of all the change in my drawer. I have 74 pennies (useless), 1 1963 silver dime (won't spend that), 1 Mexican pesos, and 3 switzerland 20 centimes, and 1 enlongated pressed souvenir penny stamped with Colossal Cave Moutain Park, Tuscon Arizona.
Ok, I just went out to the car and lo and behold I actually had 3 quarters in the ash tray. YES! I will now nurse this 20oz Diet Pepsi for the rest of the day.

The first step is admitting you have a problem......
Just kidding. I was right there with you until you mentioned going out and foraging the carseat cushions. I don't do this only because I know it will yield nothing.
I think it would be great if vending machines took debit cards because I never have any cash. If a store doesn't take them, I just can't shop there.
Like I said, maybe it's crazy talk, but I can't always make it down the street to the convenience store (not when I'm supposed to be working with my clients, anyway) so having my pop on hand is crucial.
